PLEASE NOTE THAT OUR STUDIO IN EARLS BARTON HAS NOW CLOSED
You are assured a very warm welcome at our cosy studio in Earls Barton. We know that many of you may initially feel nervous about appearing in front of the camera, but we will do our best to put you at your ease; when you're relaxed and having fun, your pictures will really show it. Unlike many other companies, we do not insist on a set time limit for your photo shoot, so relax, have a drink and a chat about what you'd like to achieve from your portrait session, and enjoy your time with us.
We have photographed people of all ages, from babies of a few days old to some very senior citizens, who have all been delighted with their portraits. Whilst we are more than happy to offer advice regarding your portrait session, we will not impose inappropriate styles on you. You are the client, it is important that you have what you want.
Before you attend your sitting it can be helpful to think about the style of
photo you would like:
Classic. Formal, smart and posed like at a black tie event,
a graduation, a traditional family portrait or perhaps in your wedding dress.
Contemporary. Bright, fun, relaxed and modern.
Lifestyle. A more natural style, often incorporating your favourite pastime or hobby into the picture. Most boys, for example, would rather show off their football skills than sit still staring into a camera lens.
Think about what you are going to wear and have a change or two of clothes ready. Avoid heavily patterned materials - they distract from the people in
the picture. In a group, make sure everyone is wearing the same shade, colour
or tone so that one person does not become the dominant focus.
Brush your hair and (men!) have a shave. Even in an informal portrait you’ll like the picture better if you’re looking your best.
Perhaps there is a special item that you would like featured in some of your photographs, a musical instrument for example, or a favourite toy. If there is, please feel free to bring it along.
We will take as many photographs as we think are necessary to give you a good selection to choose from. Every shoot is different but we would aim to take at least 30 pictures, and this will take from 30 minutes up to 2 hours.
Viewing
Your pictures will be ready for viewing a few days after your photo shoot. You have the choice of either choosing your pictures online, or coming into the studio for your viewing. Please rest assured that we do not believe in the "hard sell" approach; you are free to buy as many or as few pictures as you wish. A studio viewing can be helpful for showing you what a colour picture would look like in black and white, for example, or what a number of images would look like grouped together in a frame. We also have several different finishes that we can advise you on, such as coloured mounts, canvases, frame mouldings, dvds and albums.
